A Weekend in the Vinyudd

We received a text form Rudy on Friday afternoon inviting us to Martha's Vineyard for the weekend at his cousin's vacation home. It did not take a lot to convince us to make the trip. After driving to the coast and taking a 45 minute ferry, we arrived at the beautiful house set back in the woods of the island. Rudy's cousin and his friends were already there. Needless to say, over the weekend we made some friends with some pretty wicked Boston accents.

On Saturday morning, Rudy gave us a tour of two cute little towns on the island and then in the afternoon we headed to the beach. The sun was shining and the waves were crashing! High tide came and drenched our camp, and then it was time to head back to the house. That night, we hit up the Martha's Vineyard night life and indulged in some famous homemade ice cream and donuts.

Sunday called for another day at the beach before we took the ferry back to the mainland and returned home. On our way, we had yet another Marvin Bo adventure as we attempted to traverse a one way street in the wong direction...good theing the median was low for a quick get away! We then completed our first trip to the laundry mat. Clean clothes for our second week of work!

Day 8-June 22

Today was our third day at work- We've been doing a lot of data entry with potential client information for the upcoming July 1st newsletter.  It's repetitive, but we both kind of like it.  We'll be starting soon learning how to do sales calls and dealing with more customer interaction situations.

It was rainy today, but still warm.  At lunch we went into the town center of Arlington (where we work) to check out the local farmer's market.  Had a little incident with locking our keys in the car, but we found a cute little cafe to wait in while AAA came which didn't take too long. We're getting pretty acquainted with those guys..

After work we picked up Rudy headed down (in crazy rush hour traffic) to see Tim. We hung out and got some delish mexican food in downtown Walpole then headed back up to our casa for the night!

Day 6-June 20

• First Day of Work! Pleasant surprises:
• Dunkin Donuts 100 ft away
• The cheapest gas 90 ft away
• Two big doggies in the office
• Beautiful garden with calming stream and picnic benches right across the street
• 
• Our supervisors are great! They are very flexible and relaxed. We did some data entry and will being sales calls soon
• Come home and take another long run around the neighborhood
• Ready to watch a movie and crash after a first big day

Day 5-Sunday, June 19

• Take Lizz and Edie to the train station so they can return home
• Experience our first grocery shopping adventure-Shaw's/Star Market conveniently located two blocks from home
• Have lunch in Harvard Square with Amos-yummy Italian-style sandwiches
• Go for a run around our neighborhood-so many beautiful colonial houses and cute shops all within a few blocks
• Head over to Amos' house to make cookies and watch The Town (based in Boston!)

So excited for work to start tomorrow. We will be interns at Harlow Scientific, a small medical supply company in Arlington, MA that refurbishes medical lab equipment and sells it back to universities and laboratories. Our focus will be on marketing and sales. We're growing up!

Day 4-Saturday, June 18

• Woke up wicked early to catch the commuter rail from Providence, RI into Boston for the Bruin's Stanley Cup Championship parade

• packed stations that cannot even hold all the people
• Walk to the parade, where thousands of wild fans are covered in Bruin's black and yellow 
• Meet some new friends at Uno's Pizzeria and hang out with Rudy! (DU friend from outside Boston)
• 
• 
• Navigate through Boston Commons and the Public Gardens, without directions, to pick up Lizz in Harvard square,  DU friend from Maine
• shout out to all the friendly police officers who served as guides 
• Move in! Get settled in our cozy bedroom with Lizz and Edie and get ready for a night downtown
• Ride the bus downtown and bond with our friendly roommates, Laura and Paul
• Meet up with Rudy, Amos, and Laura, another DU friend from Boston, at a downtown bar 

Day 3-Friday, June 16

• First Dunkin Donuts Experience! These things are on every block. We're real locals now.
• Edie, friend from DU who lives in Rhode Island, arrives and takes us shopping on Newberry St in the Back Bay. Tons of high-end stores and boutiques and beautiful, historic buildings

• Headed down to Bristol, RI to spend the night with Edie and her family

Day 2-Thursday, June 15

• Time to look for some furniture.
• Successfully navigate the city and hit up seven different second-hand stores in the Boston area-find out that it is illegal to sell used mattresses in the state of MA
• Encounter a few MASShole drivers on the road
• Gather the essentials for the new pad
• Dinner with the Bergens in Walpole, about 40 minutes outside Boston. Great to see Tim and his family!
• Check out Harvard Square with Amos, then back to his place for the night

Day 1-Wednesday, June 14

• Look for first house showing-end up in wrong part of town (May or may not have been the GPS's fault)
• Stop at second house showing- Fran doesn't show
• Slightly discouraged, meet up with Amos, our friend from DU who lives in Cambridge, at the third showing
• Find the future home of Summer and Ashley at showing #4! A room in a lovely four bedroom duplex in an up-and-coming part of Boston suburbia-3.5 miles to work (and from Amos'). Now accepting survival packages at:

• Watch the Stanley Cup Championship game #7 at Amos' and crash for the night

The Adventure Begins

• Drive from Denver to Colorado Springs
• Stay the night with Ashley's family friends, Barb & Kim 
• acquired our trusty Boston book
• Pick up the one and only Kelcy Schamehorn, Ashley's hometown BFF
• Road trip it to Phoenix, AZ (13 hours. NBD)
• Roadside stop at the Saloon. Mighta saw a biker gang or two
• Weeklong stay in Arizona. Gettin' our tan on. Visit from Summer's mama, Buki



Grand Canyon

• Trip to Sedona, Grand Canyon, and Flagstaff for Summer and Buki
• Flight to Detroit, MI
• Two day stay in Toledo, Ohio with the Delps and Bonners
• Pick up Marvin Bo*






• Multitude of car troubles, but got on the road
• Head to Middletown, CT to stay with Emma Leonard, Summer's hometown BFF, and friends at Wesleyan University (11 hours) 
• Make the final 2 hour trek to Boston. Arrive and start the house hunt!

*Our beautiful 1998 Harvard Accord. Named after a very excited man we met at the Toledo Midas who informed us of how awesome our time in Boston is going to be. The "Bo" is for the first two letters of both our last names (Bonner and Borowski)...real clever.
